- The BUS-BAR (electrical contact strip) should never contact with any metal frame or trim.

Howto Apply Self-Adhesive Smart Glass Film onto Installed Windows

Notes:
-Peel off the protective film by using adhesive tape.
-If there are small bubbles after installation, don't worry, the
bubbles will dismiss after several days, due to the advantages of our
smart glass film.
-Cover the busbar area completely with a plastic or aluminum frame,
and then use neutral sealant (DOW CORNING 1199, 799, 982, 1200,7091)
to fix it.
-When move the smart film, make sure you grasp the 5cm away from the edges.
-When move the big size smart film, please roll it first then move.
- The external dimensions of the SMART GLASS FILM are 2 - 3mm smaller
than the visual area of the windows.
- The BUS-BAR (electrical contact strip) should never contact with any
metal frame or trim.
STEP 1

Place the SMART GLASS FILM in a safe clean table.
STEP 2

Make sure the CLING surface is facing up.
STEP 3

Spray the glass with LIQUID GLASS POLISH/ETHANOL glass polish and use
a window SCAPER or BLADE to remove any dirt or blemishes from the
glass surface.
STEP 4

Spray the glass with LIQUID GLASS POLISH/ETHANOL and clean with a SOFT
LINT-FREE CLOTH. Wait for EVAPORATE.

STEP 5

Wipe down the Protective Liner on the CLING SIDE of the SMART GLASS
FILM to remove any dust.
STEP 6

Remove the first 100mm (4") of the protective liner covering the CLING SIDE on
the BUS-BAR edge.
Make sure that you do this in a clean dust free environment.

STEP 7

Remove the Protective Liner from the ADHESIVE STRIP on the BUS-BAR edge.

STEP 8

Make the BUS-BAR edge of the SMART GLASS FILM along with the top edge
of the glass. When in position, run your finger along the BUS-BAR to
fix the top edge.

STEP 9

Gradually pull away the protective liner and allow the film to slowly
adhere to the glass surface under its own pressure.
Using the RUBBER ROLLER move down the film working in horizontal lines
left to right to disperse any air bubbles.
If any small bubbles are visible, carefully lift the film and let it
sit back down under its own pressure again until you have a
bubble-free installation.

STEP 10

Use the SOFT EDGE SQUEEGEE to work any small bubbles and the edges of the film.
But if any edges are lifting slightly, do not worry, they will relax
down once the PROTECTIVE LINER is removed.
STEP 11

Once the film is installed on the glass you can then start work on
wiring the BUSBAR. Carefully solder the electrical cable to the mesh
tags. There are two tags on the left hand side and two tags on the
right hand side. Solder a cable to one tag on the left (positive
connection) and one tag on the right (negative connection). The other
tags are only there as spares. You can use them to connect the cables
to a switch or transformer and test the switching from frosted to
clear. Once you have tested successfully, you can trim off the spare
mesh tags.

STEP 12

Now you can carefully remove the other protective liner.
STEP 13

Run some CLEAR DOUBLE SIDED TAPE along the bus-bar edge to hold your
electrical cables in place while you prepare the cover trim.

STEP 14

Use DOW CORNING NON-ACID BASED SILICONE along the BUSBAR edge to hold
the protective cover trim in place. We recommend you use a plastic
cover trim.
STEP 16

Now, Congratulations! The installation is complete and you can clean
the film. For most installations we would recommend that you use a
cover trim on all edges of the film.
